Our Curriculum aims to inspire learning for life.
Our Curriculum is inclusive and has the basic skills of English and Maths at its core. We follow the programmes of study for the New Curriculum (September 2014) in all subjects, and the Diocesan programme of study in Religious Education. We use Jolly Phonics and the Oxford Reading Tree to teach and promote a love of reading. All other subjects form our Foundation Subject Curriculum and are taught through creative topics which inspire and challenge our pupils. Our recent International Award (for the 4th time in succession) is testimony to this.
We foster independent learning by developing skills in self-management, enquiry, creative thinking, reflective learning, effective participation and teamwork.
Social awareness is promoted through our Religious Education and PSHE programmes of study which nurture respect, tolerance and the importance of community.
All pupils follow the New Curriculum at a level and pace appropriate to their needs and which is tailored to individual learning. Please see information on Special Educational Needs

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
At St Cuthbert’s RC Primary School, we believe that inclusive education means providing all pupils with appropriate education and support alongside their peers. The Curriculum is all the planned activities that the school organises in order to promote learning, personal growth and development.
If you would like to discuss your SEND requirements in detail please contact the school to arrange an appointment.
